The
JDA Limehouse branch is also the headquarters for the John Ding International
Academy of Tai Chi Chuan (JDIATCC), where Master John Ding's instructors
teach all aspects of traditional Yang Style Tai Chi under his watchful
eye.
Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese martial art which builds practical knowledge of internal energy ('Chi') for self-healing, healing of others and self-defence. More popular these days for its dramatic ability to improve health, vitality and well-being through the harmonization of mind, body and spirit, this soft, flowing, gentle, low-impact exercise is applicable to all regardless of age, sex or health.
The literal translation of Chi Kung is 'Energy Work'. Chi Kung consists of specific postures, either lying, sitting, standing or moving that teach you to focus, grow and circulate internal energy ('Chi') for health, vitality and a calm mind. Every Tai Chi class begins with a very powerful set of standing Chi Kung postures, followed by Tai Chi warm-up exercises which over time become another Chi Kung set. In fact as your understanding grows you will soon realise that everything in Tai Chi is Chi Kung - energy work .
