Classes - Yoga

Regular Yoga practice improves flexibility, stamina, strength and posture. Many of the bodies systems can benefit from a consistent yoga practice. Excess weight can be lost with an improved metabolism; benefits can also be gained in the respiratory, circulatory, nervous, digestive, skeletal and muscular systems.

Founded in the area of the world now known as India, Pakistan and Afghanistan Yoga has been practiced for at least 5000 years; it is the original holistic healthcare system helping those who practice regularly to enjoy a healthy body and a calm and clear mind.

The style of Yoga we teach is founded on Hatha Yoga, in the traditional style. Influences are also drawn from other styles of yoga that are part of our teacher's own ongoing practice of Astanga, Iyengar, Shadow, Scarravelli and Raja Yoga. Classes are a combination of postures that are held steadily while attention is given to breathing into the poses; this helps to develop a steady internal focus. Props are available to enable all levels of student from beginner to the experienced to take part.
